The perfect illusion of migration

A form of art to showcase my view of the most common image that pops up when I think about refugees who travel overseas to seek asylum in many western countries. Every day people in unfortunate circumstances leave their homes on boats in hopes of having a better chance of survival in another place. This image I painted, purposely indicates the false representation of what refugees face overseas, as a way to show that Canada has created a false illusion of refugees who seek asylum to our citizens.. In other words, this is a form of visual self-awareness in Canada to research the challenges that refugees while they travel on water.

Rationale:

When I drew this image, I was not thinking about bordering crossing in the world. Many times I thought about drawing the negative effects and the cruelty that refugees face. However, I found out everyone always sees the horrible things to get the underlying message. Therefore, I thought it was important for others to be able to see the positive side to be able to see the negative side. Most of the time, they are traveling in horrible weather conditions which means that their voyage is nowhere near a luxury lifestyle on the water. I wanted to express the illusion that many people are told false stories or false media representations when it comes to understanding the lives of refugees seeking asylum.
